The luxurious Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is located in Kaokoland and offers an opportunity to visit one of the remotest and wildest areas of Namibia.

Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is located in the Purros Conservancy Area, one of the last, truly uncontaminated sites existing in the world, where elephants, giraffes, rhinoceroses, lions and other species have adapted to living in a desert environment.

Okahirongo Elephant Lodge consists of 7 luxurious en-suite chalets as well as a suite with two rooms and combined living area. Okahirongo offers stunning views and the opportunity to laze around the pool while reading a book from the comfortable library, or merely relax in one of the two open-air lounges.

With its 7 chalets and a presidential suite, Okahirongo Elephant Lodge was designed so as to perfectly blend into the landscape and decorated with a colour scheme reflecting the colours of the desert.

The cottages, each covering an area of 80m2, have bedrooms decorated with rare pieces of tribal craftwork, large bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and a bathtub, and spacious verandas, from which guests can view the beautiful desert sunset. The camp also contains a swimming pool, 2 lounge areas, a small open-air library and 2 dining rooms.

The menu at Okahirongo Elephant Lodge changes daily. Guests can feast on menus which feature a delectable fusion of African and Italian flavours, with ingredients brought in from the lodge's organic garden to ensure undeniable flavour and freshness.

Activities at Okahirongo include twice-daily game and scenic drives, tracking desert-adapted elephants, lion tracking with the Desert Lion Project, hiking along the Uarosib River, morning desert walks, birdwatching and cultural visits.

The lodge plays an active role in the conservation of the unique, surrounding ecosystem through a project that aims at monitoring desert lions and places restrictions on the number of local routes that can be used by motor vehicles.

Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is situated on the banks of the Hoarusib River near the tiny town of Puros. Located in the Puros Conservancy, it is a no risk malaria destination, which can be reached in a 4x4 vehicle or on a 2 hour 15 minute flight from Windhoek.
